Steam network ECLUSE commissioned

15 March 2019

ECLUSE, the steam network in the port of Antwerp, was officially put into operation on Friday 15 March by two Flemish ministers. ECLUSE supplies six chemical companies with steam generated during the incineration of waste products by the processing company Indaver. A.Hak and Petrogas (together AHP) signed for the construction of the network.

ECLUSE steam network makes an important contribution to the achievement of the Flemish climate objectives. An annual reduction of 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions is achieved because the six chemical companies no longer need to produce steam themselves in their steam boilers. Moreover, the project provides at least 5 percent of all green heat produced in Flanders. ECLUSE is thus making an important contribution to the realisation of the Flemish climate objectives.
